Foot Clan (1990 TMNT Movie)
This cosplay is a fun challenge because it looks like it has a simple base, but each piece is a little different than I first thought. What fabrics are good? How is the hood stretchy and yet structured? What’s going on with those shoulder pads? Are those…. kitchen strainers over their eyes? That’s what I thought when I was a kid, anyway.

Tabi Boots
Classic ninja footwear! I ordered them online and they are ok, but they were so skinny! I took the velcro off one side, sewed in a triangle of fabric, and sewed the velcro back on. They’re a little big now, but they work and I’ll fix them after WonderCon
Ninja Mask
Since I always thought those things over their eyes were kitchen strainers, that’s what I made mine out of! Cutting them out was the worst part, and I scrunched them into a bulbous shape using dental floss stitched through the metal mesh. Woven interfacing around the eye holes keeps them firmly attached to the stretch fabric. The cowl pattern has a solid front with a seam in the back and a solid top, to keep most of the seams hidden either in the back or under the headband. For the headband, I thrifted a wool skirt that had some holes in it, and used the hem, plus some puff paint to do the Foot kanji. I think it’s a slightly different kanji in the movie, but I can change the foot one into it once I find a clear picture. It just has a few extra strokes.
